Welcome to the webpage of
O'Day Mariner #1922. The purpose of this site is to document and
demonstrate the rehabilitation and upgrading of this classic O'Day
sailboat. This is not to say there are no other techniques or
possibilities; the work I chose to do was simply based on my own desires.
Hopefully this will help anyone else interested performing similar tasks.
Please feel free
to contact me with any questions!

PICTURE OF THE
WEEK
MARINER UPDATES
WEBSITE UPDATES
03.08.10
- This beautiful picture is courtesy of Andre Barata of Santa Clara,
California. He and his wife took their recently restored 1967
Mariner to Lake Tahoe last year. Andre writes, "The
wind was really slow that day, but the beautiful emerald green water and
the mountains in the background made you forget about time. We anchored
our Mariner at the Emerald Bay in Lake Tahoe and went for a
hike. I couldn't help but stare at the boat the whole time."
I wager he was not the only one - what a great looking boat.
02.26.10
- I created a promotional video (no sound yet) for the Mariner Class Association, now
featured on the front page of their
website and on YouTube.
Perhaps my obsession with Mariners has gotten a little out of
control...?
02.21.10
- Stuart Marine is participating
in the New England Boat Show
being held this week in Boston, and he is showing one of his brand-new
Mariners.
02.15.10
- This website has reached an all-time high of 1,221 unique visitors during this past week
alone with an average of 243 visitors per day!
02.08.10
- The Mariner Class Association's periodic newsletter, Notice to
Mariners, is scheduled to be mailed sometime in the next few
weeks. Join now if you are not currently a member to receive this
great resource.
03.08.10
- I got a chance to prime the top of the deck
today. So far, so good - another coat coat or two of topcoat and
the top deck core repair will be done.
02.26.10
- Added four more videos under the menu, including Orion reefing,
Andre Barata's boat, an early-style Mariner and the Class Association's
promotional video.
02.22.10
- Made a new page under "Pictures"
after visiting Dave Whittier and Stuart Marine at the New England Boat
Show this past Saturday.
02.21.10
- Updated the deck core page after reattaching
the flap and repairing the cuts on the side of the arch. This
project is nearly complete!
02.19.10
- I updated the Southeast Connecticut Mariner Fleet page
with information about an upcoming Fleet Luncheon.
Thanks
to Good Old Boat for listing
this site under their "Sailors' Blogs & Sites"; they are
another great website and magazine whose tagline is, "The Sailing
Magazine for the rest of us!"
Also
thanks to Small Craft Advisor
for linking this site back in June. They are another great
website and magazine that reviewed the Mariner in Edition No.
49.
DISCLAIMER: While I
personally have had success using the methods outlined in this website,
one should never undertake major repairs without the presence of another
adult in case an emergency situation should arise.
